Explore what to look for when delegating HYPE and discover the best Hyperliquid validators to maximize rewards and ensure reliable staking.
Hyperliquid is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain designed to deliver a centralized exchange's speed and user experience while maintaining low transaction fees and transparent trade execution. A key feature Hyperliquid offers is its on-chain order book, enabling deep liquidity without sacrificing decentralization.
What is Hyperliquid?
Hyperliquid features its EVM-compatible environment, HyperEVM, which allows developers to easily deploy Solidity-based smart contracts. The protocol enables seamless interoperability between Hyperliquid’s native execution layer (HyperCore) and HyperEVM (its EVM-compatible state), allowing assets to be bridged between the two anytime.
All network components, including HyperCore, HyperEVM, and block production through validators, are secured by HyperBFT, Hyperliquid’s custom consensus mechanism based on HotStuff consensus. HyperBFT is designed to ensure fast finality, high throughput, and reliable coordination across the entire network, supporting nearly 200,000 orders per second with a 0.07-second block time.

How Hyperliquid Staking Works: Delegation and Rewards
Anyone can delegate their HYPE tokens to validators on Hyperliquid. Validators may charge a commission on staking rewards, typically 1–5%. To protect delegators, validators are only allowed to increase their commission by a maximum of 1% at a time. This prevents scenarios where validators attract large delegations and then exploit them by sharply raising fees.
When staking, validators and delegators interact with two types of accounts:
Spot Account: Your primary wallet account on Hyperliquid.
Staking Account: The account where your HYPE tokens must be held to stake.
Transfers from your Spot Account to your Staking Account are instant. However, transferring assets from your Staking Account to your Spot Account requires a 7-day waiting period. Additionally, once you delegate to a validator, there is a 1-day delay before you can partially or fully undelegate your staked tokens.
Staking Rewards Distribution
The staking reward formula on Hyperliquid follows a model inspired by Ethereum, where rewards are inversely proportional to the square root of the total HYPE staked. Rewards are automatically distributed and redelegated to the corresponding validator. The staking rewards come from the protocol’s token emissions reserve.
What to Look for When Choosing a Hyperliquid Validator
Consider these key attributes when choosing the best Hyperliquid validator to stake your HYPE tokens.
Commission Rates: The portion of staking rewards the validator takes as a fee. Lower commission means more rewards for the delegator, but finding a validator that balances low fees with reliable uptime is important.
Reliable uptime: A validator with consistent uptime ensures your stake will earn rewards continuously and reduces the risk of slashing due to missed blocks from the validator's inactivity.
Validator's background: Evaluate the validator's reputation and involvement in other blockchain networks to assess credibility and long-term alignment with the broader blockchain ecosystem.

FAQs
What is a Hyperliquid Validator?
A Hyperliquid validator is a node that helps produce blocks and participate in the consensus process that secures the network. Validators earn rewards for successfully participating in consensus, which are shared with delegators who staked HYPE tokens.Which validator should I consider delegating to?
Based on our picks, some of the top options for delegating your HYPE tokens include Imperator, Bharvest, Foundation Node, and Hypurrscanning. How do I choose the best validator?
We recommend considering a validator’s commission rate, uptime performance, and overall background. Choosing a validator that balances low fees with consistent performance helps maximize your rewards while avoiding the risk of getting slashed due to validator inactivity. How can I delegate to a different validator?
To switch to a different validator, you must first undelegate your HYPE tokens from your current validator. After a one-day waiting period, you can select a new validator and redelegate from your staking account.
